As a journalism student in 1994, Charles Crosby wrote an expose on prostitution in Halifax, His interviews with the various sex workers eventually became the basis for this play. Through The Whores we meet: Mary (the upscale escort), Carnie (the aging streetwalker), Lori (manic and hyper-sexual), Sam (a single mother and drug-addict) and Cherry (the university student).
Without resorting to stereotypes or cheap hyperbole, Crosby takes us on a journey through the gritty reality of a life working the streets. Alternating between being shocking, saddening, and thrilling; these girls use raw humour and blunt language to leave the audience with a true taste of the world's oldest profession.
